I eat oatmeal almost everyday, and besides being a very healthy whole grain, with a few simple add-ins it's simply delicious! I have already visited my friend oatmeal in the past, with some of my favorite combinations, but i decided to take my love up a notch and have an Haute Oatmeal Bar Brunch.
My new love, steel-cut oats were highlighted. While they take slightly longer to cook than regular or quick oats (45 mins vs < 5), it is worth it for the creamy, hearty result. as Naveen said; "A transcendental whole grain experience"

I'm an oat lover myself. I eat rolled oats every morning for breakfast and usually keep a big batch of steel cut in the fridge for snacks. I love all of your ideas for mixins! My favorites are usually brownie batter with strawberries (using dark chocolate cocoa powder) or simply a mix of fresh berries. I always top with flax seed. For your mexican hot chocolate combination, a little cayenne might work, as well. I make cookies like this. Do you still eat hot oats in the summer?
Have a lovely day!

Oh, to pick a favorite oatmeal add-in is hard! But I am going to go with chunky peanut butter and cocoa powder.
In the summer, I often make overnight oats - dry old fashioned oats with either milk or yogurt, and then adding in fruit/nuts in the morning.
Oh, my, this is truly one of the most brilliant ideas I've ever encountered! An all-oatmeal buffet party! I am going to have to do this, too--I adore oatmeal!
My favorite mixin these days is pumpkin, almond butter, cinnamon and ginger (and sometimes a few walnuts). However, once I'm able to eat PB again (hoping, hoping), I'll go for PB, chocolate chips and maple syrup--yummmmm.
